Key Objectives
- Develop a deep understanding of the company’s customer base to support effective marketing and product merchandising strategies.
- Provide post-campaign analysis and insights to the marketing team and wider business.
- Using SQL, write queries to extract datasets that answer specific questions from key stakeholders.
- Be a key user and stakeholder of an in-house, bespoke database that provides a single customer view and is the engine of our marketing efforts – you will also work with developers on improvements.
- Work to optimise the marketing mix and improve customer targeting.
- Support the company’s wider efforts to maintain data quality and data hygiene.
- Support the budgeting process using a mix of historical data and modelling of future customer behaviour based on marketing plans.
Candidate Specification
Experience/Qualifications
- An understanding of direct marketing would be a distinct advantage (but not a necessity) – for instance, the concepts of single customer view, segmentation, and lifetime value analysis.
- Excellent SQL querying skills are essential as well as experience of working with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience of using a business intelligence tool, preferably PowerBI and associated Microsoft technologies.
- Comfortable in engaging in discussion with and presenting to board level colleagues.
- Commercially minded with experience of working with different departmental functions in a high-volume transaction, B2C business.
- Good Excel skills – able to use the tool to help present data in a meaningful and actionable format.
