- Responsible for managing Production Schedules and key dates from first briefing stages to final sign off, in line with wider business critical paths.
- Managing artwork production to ensure timely delivery to the printers.
- Continually liaising with other Production Managers to efficiently manage workflow through studio, escalating resource issues to Group Production Manager.
- Closely controlling production budgets including tracking expenditure, checking invoices and budget reporting.
- Reviewing and proofing artwork with the Publications Manager.
- Collating corrections and progressing amends through the in-house studio and external designers and artworkers.
- Working closely with the Production Assistant to ensure that photography samples are in place for planned photography and that images are processed for artwork.
- Managing external designers, copywriters and photographers to ensure deliverables are on brief and delivered on time.
- Liaising with our external repro house to communicate any updates to schedules and print requirements.
- Undertaking all pre-press colour proofing of cromalins and/or digital proofs and confirming the size of the page and position of all elements.
- Working with the Marketing department and brand team to plan and develop front cover and other customer communication concepts.
- Providing regular status reports on the progress of workload.
Key Skills/Requirements
- At least 5 years proven track record in production management within a print or mailing environment.
- An understanding of effective product presentation both on page and in photography.
- An astute awareness of allocated budgets and spend; documented experience in managing production budgets.
- A keen understanding of scheduling, process and critical path.
- An understanding of colour standards & matching.
- Methodical, with a superb attention to detail.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at any one time.
- Excellent coordination and organisational skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to manage changes.
- An understanding of InDesign, Photoshop, CMS and DAM, and how these platforms structure the creative and artwork production process.
- Understanding of the importance of communication and how it can reduce challenges.
- Good command of the English language.
- Ability to communicate clearly at all levels, including Directors.
- IT literate with experience on both Windows and Mac platforms.
- Proficient in MS Office 365, particularly MS Excel.
- A team player who is willing to contribute.
- Ability to stay ultra-calm and enthusiastic under pressure.
